Discover Central Otago’s famous wine region on a full-day cycling adventure that combines stunning scenery, award-winning wineries, and the freedom to explore at your own pace. The day begins with a shuttle from Queenstown to the charming gold-mining village of Arrowtown, where the team will provide bike fitting, navigation guidance, safety information, and plenty of local winery tips before you set off. Take time to wander Arrowtown’s historic streets and cafés or jump straight on your bike to begin the journey.
From Arrowtown, follow scenic trails alongside the beautiful Arrow and Kawarau Rivers as you make your way to the iconic Kawarau Suspension Bridge, home to the world’s first bungy jump. From there, spend the rest of the day riding the easy Gibbston River Trail with an informative winery map guiding you between cellar doors and picturesque vineyard settings. Wineries along the route include Chard Farm, Gibbston Valley Winery, Rockburn, Gibbston Tavern, Kinross, Brennan, and Mt Rosa, with plenty of opportunities to stop for wine tastings, lunch, or a picnic at your leisure (additional cost). Even better, the shuttle crew can collect any wine purchases along the way so you can continue riding light.
The first winery is located approximately 15km from Arrowtown, and the end of the valley is around 25km of easy riding through one of New Zealand’s most beautiful wine regions. At 4:30 pm, meet the shuttle at your chosen winery for the relaxing journey back to Queenstown, ending a day filled with spectacular landscapes, local flavours, and unforgettable memories.
